The old canteen pulling the big red kettle! This year, The Salvation Army is participating in not only the Starlight Parade, but also in the Starlight Run before the Parade! Keep your eyes peeled for some Salvation Army shields in both the Run and Parade!

Also, you can take a look at the brand new Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Canteen, which will be in the parade! And you won't be able to miss the kettle!!

About The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army, an evangelical part of the universal Christian church, has been supporting those in need in His name without discrimination since 1865. The Salvation Army first came to Portland in 1886 and has since grown to serving thousands of people throughout the Metro area. Nearly 30 million Americans receive assistance from The Salvation Army nationwide each year through the broadest array of social services, ranging from providing food for the hungry, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled, outreach to the elderly and ill, clothing and shelter to the homeless, and opportunities for underprivileged children. 82 cents of every dollar donated directly supports those in need. The Salvation Army is currently working in 124 countries worldwide.
