Donate today and put food on the table!

What if you did not have the resources to share a meal with your children on Christmas day? The reality is that this rings true for thousands of local families. Since 1886, The Salvation Army in Portland has recognized this need and continues to meet it with its limited resources. Every month, The Salvation Army distributes 1,200 food boxes to families in need.

This, however, only scratches the surface of food insecurity in the Portland Metro area. With your help, The Salvation Army can provide healthy food to more families who are looking for a little extra help putting food on the table. Contact your local Salvation Army to make a food or cash donation today. Just $30 will feed a family of four for a week.

We need your help to keep this Christmas tradition alive.

Here are two ways you can help:

  1. A $3,000 donation will buy one food item to fill all the boxes. (ie: all the cans of cranberry sauce or all the jars of peanut butter)

  2. Or with a $30 donation, you could support one entire box for a family, so you can choose to support one or more families depending on your donation.

Food to fill these boxes will include: a turkey, cans of corn, green beans, cranberry sauce, and pinto beans, stuffing mix, fruit, peanut butter, jelly, mashed potato, vegetable oil, yams, rice, raisins, marshmallows, brown sugar, mac n’ cheese, tuna fish, and oatmeal.
